4x4 ROUTES - DOROB PARK

All the 4x4 routes in the Dorob National Park - Ugab Menhir, Messum Crater and Minerals/Dead Sea Routes - are now signposted and the roads graded.

Although the signs state that a permit is needed this has not been implemented yet, but will come into effect this year still.
Please find out from the Henties Bay Tourist Office what the situation is before you venture onto these routes.

Visitors should take care that they stay on the demarcated routes - an A4 satellite map is available form the tourist office and can be ordered from info@hentiesbaytourism.com

Please keep an eye on our Facebook page where all relevant information will be published regularly -

This is the official website of the Henties Bay Tourism Association.
The Association welcomes everyone who wants to know more about Henties Bay and its coastal and desert environment.
We created this website in the hope that it will stimulate your curiosity about our beautiful environment and entice you to visit our town and experience some of the magic we sometimes take for granted!

Known for its excellent fishing opportunities, Henties Bay was since its earliest times the foremost angling destination for many anglers flocking to the coast throughout the year.  But for those nature lovers seeking to discover the mysteries of the Namib Desert we offer various 4x4 routes, a very popular pastime nowadays.

Small pubs, quaint accommodation establishments and grand seaside villas contribute to the unique atmosphere of this holiday town nestled in between the Atlantic Ocean and the Namib Desert - miles from its neighbouring towns.
Henties Bay has a magical quality that lures people to come back year after year - not only for fishing but to enjoy the tranquillity of the deserted beaches and the slow pace....
or the pulsating energy of the annual Fish Festival and the December festive season.
